El-khatib was born in Jerusalem, Palestine, but when he was young, he moved to the Washington, D.C., area to find a better life. Not only did he want to do well in school, but he also wanted to try new things in sports. He thought that martial arts could improve not only his mind but also his body. This led to a growing interest in the subject he wanted to grow. He always played in the NBL and NASKA Circuits, two of the country's most challenging. Martial arts taught him how important it is to keep trying, to respect other people, and to push himself in new ways. He worked hard and had a strong mind, which helped him become one of the top three competitors in the United States. Then, in 2001, he became one of the best martial artists in the country when he won the Grand Champion Title at The World Cup Martial Arts Finals.

Ahmad wanted to make a living out of martial arts because it had helped him in many ways. He knew that martial arts had helped him, so he got a job as the head instructor and weapons specialist at Kim's Karate and All Star Martial Arts. Throughout his career, he has promoted more than 100 black belts in the DMV (Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia) area. This shows that he is an excellent martial artist and a good teacher and instructor. He thinks it is advantageous to give back to the younger people in the area by letting them try martial arts and see what it has done for him.

El-Khatib decided to go out on his own after working for several martial arts studios for several years. He opened the Medina Center in 2012. This center for enrichment is in Falls Church, Virginia, and it focuses on art and fitness. He thinks it's essential for kids to have skills in many different areas, so he uses the Medina Center to help them grow in many different ways. Children can make their own experiences so that they meet their own needs. The center has theater shows, art shows, film screenings, and workshops. Sustainability, teaching about the environment, and getting involved in the community get a lot of attention. He thinks that the next generation needs to learn how to take care of their minds and bodies and how important it is to take care of the planet. El-khatib thinks we can improve the world by getting people to look out for each other.

It paid off for him to work hard at the Medina Center. He has made a difference in the lives of many children and families, and in 2014, Harvard University asked him to give a talk. He went to the well-known university in Cambridge, where he spoke at the Institute for Social Policy and Understanding about how important it is to build a strong community through inclusive spaces and community building. El-Khatib has also given more than a million dollars to low-income families through college scholarships. He thinks that everyone who wants an education should be able to get one. The Farm of Peace is a 150-acre center in Pennsylvania that he also backs. The farm not only grows food for the people in the area but also helps people who are struggling spiritually.

Ahmad has been looking for ways to do more good, so in 2022, El-Khatib started Avant-Garde Ventures, a group of creative people who put together unique experiences with amazing people. He thinks everyone should have access to a mentor who can show them how to succeed. This would help the young. Talented people see what success looks like and give them a plan for how to avoid and learn from mistakes. His new nonprofit has already helped many people reach their full potential.
